Personal Statement
The themes that permeate my work are emergence, duality, balance vs. imbalance in a physical sense and a psychological inference. Duality can be seen in the contrasting use of materials. I delight in the process of changing textures, smooth to rough, one color into another, convex to concave, dark to light. My work is intended to reflect many emotional moods, resistance, breaking through, letting go, merging as one and the changing nature of relationships, nothing is constant, all impermanent. Much of my work is inspired by the spirituality of Buddhism. Meshing my philosophy with meditation leads me to express a connection between art and spirit.
